Extended Aftercare Services

The likelihood that recovery will be lifelong increases with an effective follow up plan for clients following treatment. Our Aftercare Services provides clients with up to one year of regular follow ups and check-ins, with continuous development of the life and coping skills required to sustain recovery.

Group Counselling for Drugs and Alcohol

Group counselling has proven to be as effective as individual counselling in the recovery process. Group sessions are designed to remediate or prevent specific problems while providing clients with brief, solution focused treatments that can on topics such as trauma, relapse prevention, or working through behavioural issues. At Toronto Addiction Rehab, clients are exposed to four different kinds of group programs:

Task Groups

Task groups work together on a specific process. The focus is collaboration in order to work towards a certain goal, while having the opportunity to dialogue with others about their addictions experiences. These groups are based on mutual respect, a culture of feedback, and the promotion of reflection as a critical process for individuals.

Psycho-Educational Groups

Psycho-educational groups focus on specific topics associated with addictions and take an educational approach. Topics explored allow clients to understand the root causes of addictions in order to be informed throughout their own recovery process. Examples of topics include: Managing stress, managing and ending relationships, or overcoming multiple addictions (poly-addiction).

Psychotherapy Groups

These groups focus on remediating specific psychological disorders such as depression and anxiety. Led by a group worker, psychotherapy groups allow clients to explore their problem areas within a supportive, comfortable and supportive environment and seek to alleviate the problems associated with psychological disorders.

Counselling Groups

Counselling groups are focused on skills building and helping individuals through group support make the necessary behavioural changes for recovery. Interpersonal skills are developed and supported in the transition back to daily life.
